The Robertsons Spices Reinvention Kitchen was activated, the world’s first Pop-Up Restaurant that changed everything, every day! Our team conceptualised, designed, manufactured, produced, executed and activated the Pop-up restaurant from the ground up.
Running over 5 nights of Immersive Spice Experience, the world’s first Pop-Up restaurant that changed everything, every day – a formidable, exciting and intensely unique project.
Every day, a new spice, a new chef, new decor, new menu – and everything else – Robertsons Reinvention Kitchen celebrated the herbs and spices that go into their signature Barbecue, Chicken and Steak & Chops blends, and the countries that Robertsons travels to in order to find them.
Diners discovered the expertise involved in creating the perfect blend. Each night, SA’s top chefs used one of the herbs and spices found in the Robertsons blends range and provided the diners with a new taste adventure.
Lunch was served from 12:30 – 14:30 and dinner from 18:30 – 20:30 with each evening celebrating a Robertsons spice as well as the country from which it is expertly sourced.
Hero spices included Chilli (India), Pimento (Mexico), Nutmeg (Indonesia), Marjoram (Egypt) and Paprika (South Africa).
First, we conceptualised and designed the full building, along with the relevant themed activations that were planned every day of the project.
Then we prefabricated the structures and interiors. Then we installed the structures on site, at night.
A no noise zone during the building and installation phase – interesting when you are building a building!
Outdoors, on a piazza square, that becomes a vacuum in windy conditions – build the building…
then came the rain…
Take an empty piazza square, mark it out, make the concept design work on a non-level paved area, without upsetting the tenants, and don’t forget that we need a practical kitchen services area at the back!
