Call of The Wild

ConCept G Global – grit is our passion to persevere 05 July, 2023

What it means to be in the service of others – in the context of our Industry.

Our collective journey as an industry with its roots and foundation in South Africa, is nothing short of a calling – to serve – and in that, to acknowledge and celebrate the integral role we all play.

In turn, we realise that the energy we exude and the phenomenal impact that we have, will create the kind of change we want to see in our industry.

Ours is a story that has seen some suffering, from which, we focused on transformation and adaptability whereby for many of us, survival is the only imperative. Post the COVID outbreak, globally, a void has been created in our industry workforce and, essential to our industry’s survival, we are also required to address its skills gap, which is not necessarily attributed only to the impact of COVID.

How should we address our industry’s future and enable its survival?

How should we package our industry’s potential, its offerings and rewards to the NextGen?

There are the hours, yet there is the imagining; the exciting conceptualisation, planning and preparation phases that require solutions and that challenge and train our brains, keeping us alive, awake, alert and challenged.

There is the physical impact of walking, standing, managing, overseeing the facets of each project and for our build teams, the actual physicality of building of the structures and components in the interests of achieving the end game and then… there is the step back – to take it all in – to shake the hand of our client as they embrace and welcome the product of our team’s collective hard work in the realised creative concept that enables the Brand to come alive, even if it is for a fleeting two, three, four or five days. What a ride.

We say; ‘’It is not for everyone’’ – it exists for those who answer the call of the wild, in whose veins the very industry’s lifeblood swims.

How do we make our industry for everyone?

Perhaps the answer to attracting the NextGen requires us as the industry stalwarts and leaders to walk the talk and truly SERVE – we are each of us required to refuel and refill our own tanks, to nurture ourselves so that we may exude and impart the right amount of energy, experience, knowledge and balance. This must hold true for every facet and sector of our industry, not only the contracting fraternity. In this way, we not only give back to the people who best receive our wonderful gifts of service, but we in turn, then and significantly, share, attract and receive.

In the true spirit of our calling, our objective should be to create and expose our powerful life-learning experiences that unlock the latent potential to allow the NextGen and the people of our industry to achieve and sustain high performance in our eternal pursuit of mastery, even under pressure.

The Call is a wild force that beckons us and so we immerse ourselves in this constantly evolving environment, now consciously and acutely aware that we must ourselves change, renew, balance, attract, energise, engage, impart our knowledge, our mantle and our council to the NextGen.

In the spirit of our industry’s growth, development and hence, its longevity, there are courses available that should be marketed to the current industry community and the NextGen – in light of  the requirement to uplift, upskill and extend industry career paths, all of which is a consistent criteria – for example:

  • SAQA – Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) NQF Level 4: Trade Exhibitions

-A nationally recognised qualification providing benchmark competence against local and international standards, with recognition of excellence as an important element in the spirit of fostering healthy competition and ensuring professional standards.

-Developing competence and performance within the exhibition industry, providing both  theoretical and practical application of learning of the knowledge and applied elements within the qualification

-Applicable to any individual who is already in or who wishes to be involved in the exhibition industry

-Serving as a further and higher-level qualification leading on from Exhibition Support

– A national qualification, ensuring that the quality of education and training is enhanced and at a world-class standard.

The exhibition and event industry is one of the fastest growing industries in South Africa in that it markets itself globally and it is an essential and unique marketing platform for business and government to build their image and customer base in order to grow and develop.
